PJ Hairston Signs with North Carolina After Duke Kept Mispelling His Name

I know Duke sends out letters to tons of high school recruits. Wonder if they will regret the simple mistake they made when sending letters to PJ Hairston, a 6’4 guard from Hargrave Military Academy in Chatham, Virginia.

Due to a recurring error by the Blue Devils, Hairston’s option to sign with North Carolina may have been swayed. Hairston says:

“The thing about Duke was, every time they sent me a letter, they wouldn’t spell my name right,” Hairston told the Greensboro News & Record. “They would have ‘T.J. Harrison’ or something like that. And I’m like, ‘OK. How can I go here? You can’t even spell my name right.’ It’s only two letters and HAIR and STON. I’m trying to figure out how that’s so hard.”

Still pretty embarassing for this to come from a school like Duke, but then again, the Blue Devils have their pick at any player they want in the country so if a school can afford this type of mistake, it’s Duke. I’m going to need the school to hire a spell checker or have their names right next time they go to send out recruit letters.
