Mike Vick Signs 6 year $100Million Contract with Eagles
Yesterday I referred to Michael Vick as a true comeback kid. After receiving back his endorsements with Nike and now a favorite to many in fantasy football, Vick also has become a top high paid player as he just signed a 6 year $100Million contract with Philadelphia, $40million guaranteed.
“I’m very happy we were able to reach an agreement with Michael on this long-term contract,” said Andy Reid. “It’s a product of all the hard work Michael has done to better himself over the last couple of years, both on and off the field. I’m very proud that he has been able to achieve success again in this league, but he’ll be the first one to tell you that there is a lot of work yet to be done by him and this team as a whole. And there’s no doubt in my mind that he will continue on that path. I give a lot of credit to Joe Banner and Joel Segal for getting this deal done.”
The team used the franchise tag on Vick this offseason, making his 2011 salary $16.057 million. The new deal reportedly lowers his cap hit by $2 million per season.
According to a league source, the Eagles first offered Vick a deal last week that was expected to be worth $70 million over four years.
Mike Vick has come a long way since being released from jail on terms on dog fighting. He has gained the likes of both NFL fans and America back.
