Mike Vick Has Broken Ribs, Questionable To Play

Michael Vick suffered two broken ribs early in the game against the Cardinals, Andy Reid revealed. His status for Sunday night’s game against the Giants is in doubt.

Reid said he didn’t know about the injury until after the game.

“He said ‘I really just kind of blacked it out and played,’” said Reid. “Really didn’t think twice about it.” But it certainly affected his play. Vick finished 16-of-34 for 128 yards with two interceptions and a 32.5 quarterback rating.

The injury came when linebacker Daryl Washington leveled Vick on a 13-yard completion to Brent Celek. Vick got up holding his side but played on.

“That just shows you the fight he has in him and the type of guy he is, that hard-core mentality,” said Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie, who exited NovaCare in a walking boot after sustaining torn ligaments in his ankle.

Vince Young would likely get the nod if Vick is sidelined. Vick has dealt with multiple injuries this season. He was knocked out of the Atlanta game with a concussion, then left the Giants game the following week with a hand injury.

“He’s a tough nut,” said Reid. Vick ran the ball eight times after breaking his ribs, and threw the ball 32 more times. He was sacked twice.

“We’ll have to see here in the next little bit,” if Vick can practice on Wednesday, said Reid.

With Jackson who was benched last game and the Eagles having a no so “dream” season with a record of 3-6, and now Vick’s capability of playing, the Eagles success in the forthcoming weeks of this season may be at its final leg.
