Otis Smith Won’t Rule Out Trading Dwight Howard “We Have to Figure Where His Head Is”

Since the talks of the ending of the NBA lockout, Dwight Howard has been in trade rumors with about 5 different teams. Aren’t trade rumors fun?? Many have no root of a source except from someone opening their mouth saying what COULD happen. I call it fantasy rumors. Almost like building a fantasy team.

Orlando Magic general manager Otis Smith hasn’t been in contact with Nets GM Billy King yet, but he isn’t ruling out a possible trade involving the Magic’s All Star Center Dwight Howard. Just when Magic fans could celebrate an NBA season, they’ll be quietly weeping as their big-man becomes the number 1 target for center-starved franchises, or even teams like the Lakers who can afford to trade for him.

“I think you have to look at everything,” Smith told the Orlando Sentinel when he was asked if he’d consider trading Howard. “I don’t think you can take anything out of consideration. I think, one, you have to talk to your player first. We have to figure out where his head is, not where everyone thinks his head is, and just more figure out where he wants to be. And then you have to make the best decision of what’s in the best interests of the franchise. That’s how I’ve always went about it: to make the best decision that’s in the best interests of the Orlando Magic.

Even as a Magic fan, I don’t think there is ANY hope of Dwight staying in Orlando. There have been no talks of bringing another star such as CP3 to Orlando therefore Dwight is looking to take his talents elsewhere in hopes of getting a ring. The Magic will be a completely different team without the dominant force in the post. Playoff contenders? Most likely not. FCP will keep you posted with everything DH!
