Report: Eagles to Franchise WR Desean Jackson in 2012

Now why in the world would they………….

There’s a million and one reasons as to why the Philadelphia Eagles did not make it to the Super Bowl, let alone the playoffs in the 2011 season.Michael Vick’s disappointing season to say the very least.. The inability of the cornerbacks to cover or tackle. The inability of the safeties to cover or tackle. The blown fourth quarter leads that seemed to take place weak after week. The weaknesses at center and right guard, especially in the start of the season. Fingers can be pointed in every direction within the organization as they were picked as favorites to take it all shortly after acquiring such talent after the lockout.

But let us not forget about the effortless plays from WR Desean Jackson, whom after not receiving a higher contract was left in the dust to maintain his glamourous lifestyle on his rookie contract which paid him less than $500k this past season. But the Eagles have hope.

According to Rant Sports:

Despite Jackson’s very poor year, the Eagles will franchise the 25-year old playmaker. He will receive a salary of approximately $9.5 million. The Eagles will then have the option of keeping him for the 2012 season or trading him away during this offseason

Regardless of the amount of this new contract, I don’t expect Jackson to be the leading force behind the Eagles and I also feel as though he will be MC Hammer-Terrell Owens broke at the end of his career. *shrugs
