Rondo Insists His Referee Bump Was an Accident [Video]
Rondo is pleading his case that it was an accident when he bumped into a referee after a loose ball foul was called in the final seconds of the game. Rondo clearly did not agree with the ref, like many fans and analyst who agree the call should’ve been a jump ball.
“Obviously I was upset about the call and I said some words to Marc,” said Rondo, who finished the night with 20 points and 11 assists. “I deserved the first tech and, as I was walking, I thought (Davis) stopped, my momentum carried me into him — I even think I tripped on his foot. I didn’t intentionally chest-bump him. But that’s what it appears to be.”
Stern has hinted to a possible suspension for Game 2 and I would not be surprised if a fine is attached to that. You cannot get in the face, let alone come in to contact with a ref. In the heat of the moment, Rondo cost the Celtics the game, and possibly the series.
