Chris Bosh to Maintain Residency in Texas to Avoid Paying $30K/Month in Child Support

Child support is a touchy subject. As a person who grew up in a single parent household I understand the need for child support. Raising children alone is a hard task, especially off of one income. I grew up in a single parent household with me and 2 of my sisters and my mother was able to provide for us making about $30k a year and sometimes far less during my time growing up. Which brings me to one side of the spectrum in the case of athletes paying for child support on their salary. It doesn’t take $10k a month plus to raise a child. But I digress.

A man should be a provider. Not sure what to think about this situation honestly. It is being reported that Chris Bosh is attempting to gain residency in the state of Texas to avoid paying his former wife and baby moms $30k a month in child support, which would be 3% of his monthly income in the state of Florida.

According to Stilleto Jill:

Bosh recently filed court papers in an Orlando court maintaining his state  of residence as Texas not Florida where he and his wife own a 12,000 sq. foot  mansion worth $12 million.

Instead, Bosh is claiming a home in Dallas as his main residence. This home  is around 1,900 sq. feet and worth about $73,000. What’s the benefit in that you  ask? Bosh currently pays Mathis $2600 a month in child support, a shift in  residency would make Mathis eligible for 3% of his monthly take home pay, around  $30,000 a month.

To clarify that, Bosh currently pays only $2,600 a month in child support under Texas laws. Being that Bosh now lives in Florida he is keeping from changing his state of residency due to Florida department of Family and Children and state laws that would require him to go from paying $2600 a month to $30,000 a month.

I have heard from certain females, and they feel he is WRONG WRONG WRONG. But honestly, she is bringing in $31,200 in child support alone on what she is currently receiving and to most Americans, that is a salary! Again, this could be left open for debate.
