Should Kyrie Irving Really Be The Number One Pick In 2011 NBA Draft?

If you think about all the players in this year’s draft, Irving may be the most attractive for the moment. But after evaluating everything that goes into a great athlete and basketball player, is he really this year’s best prospect? Let’s make something perfectly clear.

None of the questions I’m raising have anything to do with his personal life or some video’s affect on my perspective of him. He is an excellent talent that will be solid in the league. Is he the best player available, however?

You have other players like Derrick Williams and Enes Kanter that create the post dynamic that most teams are lacking in the league today. Williams has a nice jumper and can finish around the rim like a Serge Ibaka talent. Arizona State basketball is not considered very mainstream, so he was not allotted the same attention as Duke, Ohio State and UNC players. Still he managed to get deep into the NCAA tournament, without a doubt carrying his team until they faced Kemba Walker and the UConn Huskies.
