Trade Rumors: Timberwolves Offering Derrick Williams to Lakers for Pau Gasol

With the trade deadline quickly approaching, the rumor mill is about to be working at an all time high!

You will hears rumors that don’t make any sense and rumors that make you go hmm. With the nonsense of “Twitter sports” and “sources” don’t take anything as fact until you see something happen.

While Derrick Williams has been a solid pick up for the Minnesota Timberwolves, it seems as though the wolves are interested in something more. Minnesota is reported to be offering the Lakers Derrick Williams and future picks for Forward Pau Gasol.According to Chris Tommason from Fox Sports the Minnesota Timberwolves have expressed interest in trading for Lakers F Pau Gasol. Kevin Love is Demanding a Contract Extension..Or Else

I’m a bit shocked as to why Kevin Love has yet to receive a contract extension from the Timberwolves. Love is easily the their best asset on the team.Kevin Love and Michael Beasley both are due qualifying offers for next season and both likely will expect a big pay day. David Kahn will have some decisions to make, which will probably end with him signing another point guard.

According tofrom nypost.com:

According to the messenger, All-Star Kevin Love has not been offered an extension. …. You got that right; according to my source, if one isn’t submitted by Jan. 15, 10 days before the league deadline to enrich players in Love’s position (Russell Westbrook is another), then don’t bother.

Supposedly, the restricted free agent — back for season four in superior shape and with amplified area-code accuracy — then will refuse to re-sign this summer or, if things are prolonged, the one after.

Ouch! Minnesota better get on the gun with this one. Love would be a valuable piece on many other teams and could get paid a pretty penny to other teams who would be ready to snatch him up. Countdown begins.

Russel Westbrook,Kevin Love,Trevor Ariza, and Baron Davis Return to UCLA For Classes During Lockout

While many athletes are keeping their skills on the court during the lockout via Pro Am, city league, and charity basketball games, some have decided to go back to school and get their education.

According to Jocksandstilettojill,Baron Davis, Trevor Ariza, Russell Westbrook and Kevin Love all attended UCLA, played basketball for the school AND made the jump into the NBA before they were handed their diplomas. This is great to me. Many players who don’t finish college never return after getting drafted. Kevin Love tweeted this picture of the 4 of them on UCLA campus.

I’m sure the summer students are getting a trip out of this. Kevin Love isn’t the only Timberwolve who went back to school. Forward Anthony Randolph also went back to school in Louisianna during the lockout to finish classes.

Could you imagine walking into class and being sat by one of these All Star caliber players?
