While the Orlando Magic have just enjoyed luxary in the most up to date and technology saavy Amway Center, the New Jersey Nets are taking their talents across the bridge to Brooklyn next season and of course they won’t be playing at the Garden. The new Barclays Arena that the Brooklyn Nets will be playing in looks extremely nice and will be up and running by September 2012.
After eight seasons in the league, Yao Ming realizes that his many injuries have led to an early retirement. At the age of thirty, Ming still had the potential to make a stand alongside the Houston Rockets’ franchise. He has been shaken a bit by his injuries, but apparently still had the faith of those who mattered in the league, because he was voted as an All-Star in the Western Conference this year. It would have been interesting to see something like a comeback, but I guess now that is left up to the imagination.
The NBA lockout has been official for a short while now. As soon as the lockout was formally announced to the media, NBA players quickly took to Twitter, the new conversation module, to tweet odd job opportunities they had found or are willing to take part in during their downtime.
Writers are jumping on the ‘blame the WNBA’ bandwagon in order to validate the NBA owners’ claims that teams are losing money instead of making it. Seems a little gender biased than factual, seeing as how no fact in the entire world supports the argument.
In an article from Deseret News by Brad Rock, Utah Starzz guard Tammi Reiss shows less than wavering support for the lockout situation that her male counterparts are going through.
“I don’t sympathize with them anymore,” she said flatly. “We hope that as (WNBA) players, that’s not what we’re about,” said Reiss. “That’s how the majority of us feel. I’m not quite sure – and only time will tell – what the NBAPA will do and what kind of tactics they’ll use and how we’ll be represented. We don’t have a say in that now. But as players we’d like to see the integrity and all the values that made us a special league continue intact. Personally, I question the tactics of the players’ union, and they’ll have to win me over.” Continue reading NBA Players Get No Support From WNBA During Lockout→
BallinEurope just received word from Hippo Taatila (via BiE pilgrim father Christophe, now of European Prospects) that Ron Artest may have topped himself in wackiness yet again – and this within a week of the announcement of his imminent name change to Metta World Peace. Reports Taatila:
“Finland’s top league Korisliiga will witness some serious NBA talent in September 2011, when Los Angeles Lakers forward/multipersonality Ron Artest will join league newcomer LoKoKo Loimaa.
“The 31-year old Artest has three years left in his Lakers contract, but that doesn’t seem to bother LoKoKo sports director Aleksi Valavuori, who backs up the rumor in Tuesday’s Ilta-Sanomat newspaper.
“We have sorted things out and I can happily confirm that Artest will arrive in Finland,” Valavuori states in the Ilta-Sanomat interview.
Changing his name. Becoming a rapper. Giving thanks to his psychologist after winning a championship. Oh this man is such an attention whore!
I’m convinced that women are going to continue to ruin it for other women with these “leaked” pics. Bad enough I can’t get the “good pictures” from guys anymore because they’re scared I’m going to show off to my friends, or worst, send it in to a website JUST BECAUSE. Females, we have got to do better.
The most recent athlete to be caught up in the whole “leaked” sent pictures, is Chicago Bulls forward Carlos Boozer.
Now for one moment we’re going to ignore the fact that he’s doing the kissy face. We’ll get back to that. Carlos sent this picture to some female via twitter. If you’re too scared to give a girl your NUMBER, keep pictures out of her DMs playa! Luckily, Boozer didn’t send a picture below the waist or I’m sure we would be seeing that as well. The NBA’s leading scorer and OKC’s talented star player Kevin Durant has been out and about in LA and was recently spotted hanging out with Dodgers’ player Matt Kemp, who might I say was linked to my girlfriend in my mind Rihanna earlier this year. KD seems to be enjoying his summer in L.A. (who wouldn’t) as he was spotted eating at Katsuya and is rumored to be on the court this afternoon at the Drew League. The beautiful actress Nia Long was recently photographed on a beach with a much fuller belly. The actress is reported to be pregnant with her second kid at the ripe age of 41. While no official word has been dropped at who the expected child’s father would be, Ballertainment may have solved the mystery.
