With the Lockout ending, teams are wasting no time making moves and finding the right pieces to get them to the Superbowl next season.
Ravens hit the heart of Baltimore and football souls all over when they announced that they would be releasing Willis Mcgahee, along with veterans Todd Heap, Derrick Mason, and Kelly Gregg.
With free agency presuming sometime this week, teams are going for the gold. The New York Daily News is reporting that the New York Jets and the Washington Redskins are poised to aggressively pursue free agent wide receiver Santonio Holmes whenever the free agency period begins. We’re going to go ahead and place this in the “No way will this ever eff’n happen” trade rumor category in the words of DimeMag.
According to Draft Express, the Golden State Warriors have reportedly offered a package of Monta Ellis, Ekpe Udoh and Andris Biedrins to the Orlando Magic for Dwight Howard. It is a general rule that unless it’s a total steal, you almost never deal big for small in the NBA. It hardly, if ever, works. We would say that when you’re talking about the best big in the NBA, that rule is extra airtight.
Although the Magic are known for having all around shooters, this “package deal” is one the is laughable. What the Magic need is a back up center for Dwight Howard, a good point guard that can get him the ball, and a clutch shooter who is consistent off the pass.
Althought Monta Ellis is a great player, this trade will “NEVER eff’n happen”.
While the NBA lockout is not quite in effect just yet, teams are pushing for change for the upcoming season and the Lakers seem to be taking the quickest steps to bring them back to a championship style team. After being swept by the Dallas Mavericks in the post season, it’s no surprise that change is due.
With the lack of heart from Pau Gasol in the playoffs due to “off court distractions”, Laker fans won’t be too surprise not to see him in a Lakers uniform next season. The rumor trades have it that Lakers are looking to get the #2 overall draft pick from the Timberwolves, Kevin Love for Pau Gasol. It’s not surprise that after an underwhelming season and an embarassment in the post season, the Los Angeles Lakers are not the Championship team they once were with the growing talents of the East and All-stars joining forces. The Lakers have already switched up by replacing Coach Phil Jackson with Mike Brown.
Throughout the end of the regular season and into the playoffs, as the Magic was eliminated by the Atlanta Hawks in the first round, with Dwight Howard’s contract coming to an end, the sports world soared with rumors of him possibly leaving Disney World to head to Disney Land.
Well, looks like the Lakers are bypassing the defensive player of the year for a guard, and they’re seeking those talents in likes of either Chris Paul from the Hornets or the newly acquired New Jersey Net, Deron Williams.
