2011 NBA Draft Eyecandy Edition: Tristan Thompson and Jonas Valanciunas

I made the joke on twitter before the 2011 NBA draft that many girls would be tuned in to eye their next athlete crush or to google these young boys names in hopes of finding their twitters. I won’t even mention how many girls responded saying they were doing just that.

I tuned into the the most not exciting draft to date as far as the first 10 picks. Saw some picks who I thought my female readers would enjoy.  #4 pick Tristan Thompson from Texas who was drafted to the Cleveland Cavaliers as well as Jonas Valanciunas, a player from Lithuania who will show off his talents in Toronto. 2011 NBA Draft: Analyzing All Fourteen Lottery Picks In This Year's Draft

1. Kyrie Irving to the Cleveland Cavaliers

Kyrie Irving was by far one of the most predictable first picks in the history of the game next to LeBron James, who as ironically also picked by the Cavaliers. Irving will be an instant impact type of guy. He is not an athlete of LeBron’s stature but he is great in his own right. The developmental stages under Byron Scott will mold one of the best point guards in this draft into a superstar.

2. Derrick Williams to the Minnesota Timberwolves

Derrick Williams is more of a complete player, but Irving’s ceiling is far higher. Minnesota made a great pick with Williams because of how hardworking he is and how he will fit into the system with newcomer Ricky Rubio (who is highly overrated) and Michael Beasley. His jumper is refined but he could use some help becoming more powerful under the basket defensively.

3. Enes Kanter to the Utah Jazz

Recovering from losing Deron Williams, the franchise is happy to welcome someone who can score easily in the paint and give them a defender’s dynamic as only a true center could in the low post. Kanter is the closest thing to a true center in the draft and Kanter will add another dimension.

4. Tristan Thompson to the Cleveland Cavaliers

Thompson is not much of a reach for the Cleveland Cavaliers. He worked out for them and was undoubtedly picked because Kanter was off of the board. Still, he adds speed in transition, which we all saw a lack of this past season and is an amazing shot blocker for his size. Tristan will be a role player but after spending the offseason working more towards polishing his offense, he will be a force to be reckoned with.

5. Jonas Valanciunas to the Toronto Raptors

Valanciunas will not be able to play a season in the NBA until next year but as he said:

“I have not bad pick-and-roll game” Continue reading 2011 NBA Draft: Analyzing All Fourteen Lottery Picks In This Year's Draft
